B i o g r a p h y

Before I relocated to north America, I studied classical guitar since my teenage in China with Yu Benshan and Zhou Jianshi at Jinling Music School, and also took master classes and workshops from various international guitarists, including David Tanenbaum (in Beijing, China). I performed in various concerts and won provincial prizes, as either a solo classical guitarist or a leader of electrical band.

After moving to Vancouver, BC, Canada, besides live performance for various recital and wedding, as an RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) certified teacher, I focuses on teaching RCM certificate program, my students passed entry level to advanced level RCM exams and won many golden and silver prizes in competitions including BCCM Festival (British Columbia Conservatory of Music), and VKMF (Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival). My students also won silver medal and golden medal in Royal Conservatory of Music Exam.

I have been a member and director for Vancouver Classic Guitar Society (VCGS) for many years and mainly focus on education, including adjudicating performance and doing master class for student concerts, hosting RCM exam workshop, etc. I was also an adjudicator for entrance audition for the classical guitar program of UBC School of Music (University of British Columbia).

Since 2018 I temporarily quit teaching and relocated to the east side of the greater Seattle area in WA, USA for other opportunities. Now I am engaged with Seattle Classic Guitar Society and enjoy their east side programs.
